I earned a bachelor's degree in Education, with a minor in Social Studies, from Mount Mary University. I earned a master's in Curriculum and Instruction from the Concordia University in Portland, Oregon.
It is my responsibility to create a safe, welcoming environment in which students can learn and grow in their education. Every child has the potential to succeed by using their unique skills and learning styles. I strive to design lesson plans that will meet the needs of all learners. In my classroom, learning can be fun and creative, allowing all students to express themselves and showcase their talents. I strive to educate the whole child, by incorporating hands-on lessons that include a variety of projects and individual work that engage the student and activate learning through multiple group settings.
As a teacher, it is important to me to educate the child in order to prepare them for higher education. I choose to work at a Catholic school because I see the importance of our faith and teaching future generations about it. I love being able to tell the students Bible stories and how it relates to us today. This can be when we are praying throughout the day or collecting food for the food pantry for those in need. Being able to share my faith with others is one of the reasons why I work at a Catholic School. It is very important to me. I want to not only prepare the students for high school and college, but also help them prepare for the Sacraments through prayer and worship. I also share my faith journey with my students, with the understanding that we learn and grow together in our faith and that faith is a shared experience. It is my goal as an educator to teach the whole child, including enriching their mind with fundamental skills to survive and in their faith.
I love to cook and garden, especially with my family. I enjoy cheering the Badgers, Packers, Bucks and Brewers with family and friends. I also love to play sports and read books in my free time.
"Mrs. Peterson is such a fantastic teacher! I love how organized she is, it helps me to be sure I am on top of things... What's more, I think the kids love her. She does fun things in class and is keeping the kids engaged in their learning. Thank you Mrs. Peterson for being an awesome teacher and a wonderful addition to the St Joe's family!"
"My daughter looks forward to catching up with her friends and teacher everyday as they meet via the chrome book! Mrs. Peterson has all the kids talking about school work, science, and things to keep them all motivated to continue learning!!"
"Mrs. Peterson has gone above and beyond to make all of her students feel as if they were in the classroom through this distance learning experience. She always answers their questions, greets them with a smile and makes the days lessons simplified for students to understand and independently feel successful. She has also gone to all the birthday parades which means so much to all the kids even though she is driving all the way from her home. We sure do appreciate her AWESOMENESS and we are so lucky to have her at St. Joe's!!!"
