April 2008 We are excited about continuing the ministries and options that have been introduced through our Religious Education Department. Please take a moment and read all of the information for the upcoming year. We look forward to all that God has in store for us at St. Joe’s. The Parish Family Program will continue in the Fall of 2008. This program is available to ALL parents as well as children from newborn through Junior High School. (Parochial and Public School families included.) Sixth, Seventh and Eighth graders will have a condensed version of the Edge at the Family Program. Participants will meet on the first and third Sundays of the month, beginning with breakfast at 8:30 and concluding with 10:30 Mass. The other Christian Formation option for children K-5 is CFM classes on Wednesdays from 5:00 - 6:00 pm. Christian Formation classes for children ages 3 and 4 will be held on the weekends during the 5 PM Saturday and 10:30 AM Sunday Masses. Christian Formation Ministry for sixth grade through Confirmation will again be focused on holistic and comprehensive Youth Ministry. We will concentrate on leading teens closer to Christ and forming young disciples. In order to fulfill this goal, we will offer educational resources, catechesis, retreats, service projects, enrichments and social activities. The Edge for 6, 7 and 8th grade will meet the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays from 6:30 - 8:00 pm. LIFE TEEN and Confirmation for High School will meet on the 2nd and 4th Sundays from 5:30 - 8:30pm. We start LIFE TEEN and Confirmation with Mass and everone is welcome. On the registration form please fill in Child’s grade and ministry that you wish for them to attend under “CFM GRADE AND MINISTRY.” Nursery through 5th grade are filled on a first come first serve basis according to the date registered (determined by postmark or arrival date in the CFM parish mailbox.) There will be a MAXIMUM of 20 youth per session due to the classroom space and for child safety. Please be sure to fill out one student page per student enrolled. Non-parishioners may register youth only after all St. Joseph’s parish members have registered. Tuition fees are double if the family is not registered at our parish at the time of enrollment. Additional classes may be added if space and volunteer teachers are available. The alternative is family home study. Also, if the class times do not work for your family’s schedule, please contact our office regarding the home study program. (Sacramental grades: 2 and High School age are not eligible for home study.) The CFM directors will provide the materials for each family. The CFM Office will contact you ONLY if the session you have chosen for your student is full, and at that time other options will be offered. YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE ANY WRITTEN CONFIRMATION FOR THE SESSION YOU HAVE ENROLLED IN (the session you have chosen.) Those students enrolled and participating in CFM classes are eligible to participate in St. Joseph’s Athletic program. However, home study is not an option. Please contact the CFM office if you would like more details. The following are the fees for the CFM enrollment costs and events for the 2008-2009 year: Nursery, Pre-School (3 and 4 yr olds) and CFM for K-5 Parish Family Program Fee per family (in addition to student tuition)–(day school tuition students family fee waived) 6th grade through Confirmation Family Maximum 5 A 25% down payment is requested at the time of registration, with the tuition balance to be paid in full by September 1. If you need to set up a payment schedule, please contact the CFM office for assistance. We do have tuition aid available for those who could not otherwise afford our classes. These tuition aid forms should be picked up at the CFM office and filled out as soon as registration begins. There is a cut-off date to qualify for tuition assistance. Please complete all areas of the registration form. In keeping with Archdiocesan guidelines, the CFM office needs to keep a photocopy of all students’ baptismal records on file. If your family is new to the parish or you are unaware that we have a copy of your child’s baptismal record, please turn in a copy with your registration form. If you need to check if we have a copy on record or would like us to make a copy for you, we would be happy to help. If you have any questions, please call Mary, Lori, Robin at the CFM office at 662.3317. The emergency medical release section is included in the student’s registration area. This information is required in case of an emergency with your child. While CFM staff and volunteers will make every effort to contact parents or any other specified person as soon as possible, it is imperative that should anything happen, your student can be taken care of by qualified personnel as soon as possible. Please complete the registration forms on-line at enrollment form and return the completed forms at your earliest convenience, on or by June 30, 2008. Please be sure to fill out one family form and one student page for each student enrolled. You may mail them or drop them off at the CFM or Parish Office. Any registration received after June 30th will be subject to a late fee of .00 per student. (There are additional costs for ordering additional class materials.) We need your help! Any successful ministry depends on everyone using the gifts that God has given us. Please consider how you can use your talents to disciple our children and youth. The advantage of everyone helping will be receiving the blessing from using his or her gift without feeling overburdened. Our ministries can only run with YOUR help as teachers. We offer paid tuition for our teacher’s children, paid training and a GREAT experience. We do have co-teachers in some classes so ask a friend to join you in teaching a session! We can pair you with another person if you wish. Help is also needed in our CFM office. Some of the duties include filing, copying materials, special projects, or just “manning the office” during our scheduled class times. If you don’t wish to “go home” while your children are in class, please stop in to lend a hand! Please fill in the volunteering portion of your enrollment form or contact our office at 662.3317 or cfm AT stjoesbb.com. Further details regarding specific class starting dates and times and orientation dates and times will be posted on the web page. Yours in Christ, Mary Kozlik, DRE Child Ministry Lori Labadie, Director of Youth Ministry Robin Sery, Secretary
